Andrea v.s. AMC Yorktown 17

OK

So I was still angry about AMC not getting the Frankenstein (REVERSE CASTING) screening to work.  I tweeted my frustration and while I made my way to the website to send the theater feedback, I got a reply.

It didn’t solve anything but at least it was reassuring that they were gonna listen to my complaints.  I sent them my complaint friday morning and in the afternoon my brother and I went to pick up a pizza.  While we were gone AMC Yorktown called the house asking for me.

HOLY SHIT! I seriously didn’t expect a response so quickly or on the phone, I’d figure they’d just send me an email. They left a number and I forgot to call back. I figured I’d try to call them first thing Saturday morning.

Saturday morning at about 11:30 I got a call from AMC again. The guy I wish I could remember his name apologized for the technical difficulties and said that they still couldn’t get it to work.  He said they’re having a technician flown in, from California apparently, to see what the problem is. He said they were gonna contact the National Theatre to get permission to screen it again, if/once they fix whatever issue it was they had. He asked if I wanted them to call me if they get to screen it again and I said yes.

I also mentioned to him that I had heard from the internet that other people experienced similar problems at other theaters.  He said he hadn’t heard that but he’ll mention it to National Theatre when he speaks with them.

So, fingers-crossed and hopefully they’ll screen it again.

If they don’t I recently learned there’s a small independent theater in Chicago that still hasn’t screened it.

So I’m thinking I’ll go to one of these if the AMC doesn’t manage to screen it, even if I have to go alone.  The only reason I managed to convince my sister and Sara to go in the first place was because we’d be able to go for free since Sara works at AMC and could get us free tickets.  I don’t know if they’re gonna wanna go if they have to pay.

Ok guys so to anyone who was at the AMC Yorktown, give them a call, get on the list of people they’ll call if they get it fixed.  Let them now we’re waiting and want to see it. If your theater had technical problems do the same, complain.

I not only wrote to AMC, I wrote to Fantom Events the company that was organizing most of the screenings in the US and they just wrote back saying:

Hi Andrea,

I’m very sorry the content cut out for Frankenstein. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done. We ask theatres ahead of time to screen their DVR recordings for any issues that could have affected the recording. It sounds like the theatre did not do that this time around, resulting in a bad recording and missed content for the audience. The only type of refund I can suggest is speaking with the manager of the theatre about the missed content. It is up to the theatre whether or not they would provide some kind of pass or refund. I’m not aware of any encore presentation, but you can check www.fathomevents.com for the most up-to-date information on an encore. It is possible, however, that a DVD could be released in September or October of Frankenstein. You can check back with us in early Fall to see if we have more information at that time. Again, I’m very sorry you missed part of the show.

Thank you,
Fathom

I’m not sure what information they have or what they know, since they are only affiliated/contracted to screen things from the National Theatre. As much as I’d love for this to happen I’m not gonna hold my breath. I’m just gonna start praying AMC Yorktown does manage to get it screen again, so I can go watch it with my sister and Sara.
